A Sunday in the Country 2024 Portugal

A Sunday in the Country 2024 Portugal

Évora, Alentejo, 5 – 8 April 2024

Portugal Film Commission, the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), and Visit Portugal together with the European Film Academy welcomed 10 filmmakers from Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and The Netherlands to Portugal where they spent A SUNDAY IN THE COUNTRY together with Academy members Maria Schrader and Jan Schomburg from Germany. It was a weekend full of sharing experiences, visions and open-minded inspiration whilst watching and discussing each others’ films, cork forest bathing, playing paddle, cooking and even making music together at the magnificent Castelo Ventoso

Belgian filmmaker Maja-Ajmia Zellama was selected during the second round of New Dawn for a contribution to her film Têtes Brulées. About A Sunday in the Country, she says:

I met wonderful people, both on a personal and professional level. I was confronted with new perspectives and relevant divergent opinions, which allowed me to take a step back and diversify my inspirations by observing the work of other directors. It also helped me build contacts and a network in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
